This seems related to Dennett's greedy reductionism. HT Doug S.
Hmmm. I wonder how often criticism of reductionism is really criticism of what Dennett calls greedy reductionism. And I wonder whether demands that reductionism must make room for some instances of emergence aren't really just requests for a few of Dennett's cranes.
