No, I would not say he had been lucky.

This is a sufficiently low-probability event on my model that it simply means I'm stupid.

I would - I hope! - humbly beg Robin's indulgence and pray that he might impart to me the secret of my own stupidity.

Then I would be lynched by my former supporters.
