You should care about the moral code you have arbitrarily chosen.

No, I shouldn't. Which seems to be the focal point of this endless 'debate'.

If there are no universally compelling arguments, then there's no universally compelling moral code.

The validity of a moral code is not based on whether it's possible to convince arbitrarily-chosen entities of its validity.
