By the way, how big is a supernova? Does it blast Earth-sized planets to dust in an instant?
Depends on your definition of instant, but a plasma wave traveling through you at the speed of light will kill you before the nerves get the message to you, so yes as far as we're concerned.
I'm thinking about the people on the dark side of a planet.
