The cryonics conference is happening this year in Fort Lauderdale again, April 27-29. Do you think the meetup for April 28 could happen in conjunction with the conference? I think it might have to be closer to Fort Lauderdale itself, since most of the attendees won't have much in the way of transportation. Last year there were lots of LWers there, so it might be worth it.

That definitely sounds like a good idea. I will discuss it with the group tomorrow and see what they have to say, then get back to you. It would probably make sense for us to just head up to that instead of having our normal meetup on the 28th.

I didn't find much information on this conference - could you fill me in on any details? It looks like it's in Deerfield Beach, which isn't too far from where we meet up at all.

Yeah, they don't really advertise at all. Or have any kind of website whatsoever. Here's the official pdf. I can also answer any questions you have.

I haven't had any questions yet; just looking over the details. I'm doubtful I'll be able to corral everybody into going to this, but we'll see.

(I'm posting the meetup on the behalf of Grand Abraham and Lance Bush, while they're just getting started with their karma.)

Thanks! One minor issue: the time zone is EDT, which is GMT-4 current, not -7 as listed.

(also, it is spelled "Grant" Abraham. :P)

Ah! Thanks for the correction on your name :)

I'm not sure why it's showing up as GMT -7, but there doesn't seem to be a way to alter the time zone - the only controls are for setting the local time of the meetup. So yes, to any attendees, this is at 6 PM at the time local to Ft Lauderdale.

Thanks to some quick karma (apparently 2 is the minimum for adding meetups), I was able to post next week's meetup for our group: http://lesswrong.com/meetups/91

I also figured out the time zone issue: Apparently the system pulls from your local (computer's set) timezone. I would see that as an unintentional bug due to the side effect of the general intended submission process.

Without getting too off-topic, where can I report that issue? Is there a Bugzilla/issue tracker for this sort of thing, or is it a byproduct of the Reddit CMS?

Great to hear about the karma, and thanks for letting me know what the requirement seems to be.

As for the time zone issue, it looks like the best place is probably the "Report Issues" link on the page footer.
