Don't teach it about natural numbers. Teach it about the universe. If it decides something like what we call "natural numbers" is helpful for certain models, let it decide how helpful. It wouldn't be good if it just assumed the number of particles in a system follows the laws of natural numbers, when you can add one to any natural number, but will eventually run out of particles.
