That philosophers have a specific meaning for the term is the least of its problems.

Yes, people say "rationality" rather than "rationalism," but they say "rationalist." I think this evokes "rationalism" and in particular evokes "-ism" (contra Vladimir). But the "rational" part is pretty bad, too. Probably worse.
