"Crowd Source Utilization. There are sites devoted to crowd sourced funding for projects. A task force could conceive of a project with the potential to generate more revenue than required to build it. Risk could be reduced through the use of crowd sourcing. Excess revenue donated to the SIAI. (Projects don't have to be software, they could be fabricating an interesting device, piece of art, or music.)"

More info and discussion on this please? This sounds like something that I actually, just maybe, could make myself useful by, depending on what it means.

While I'm to unreliable and responisbility-shy to dare take lead of such a project, I might be able to come up with and bootstrap some art project if there are other people interested and dedicated that can complement my weaknesses and take over if I lose interest.

I have no idea what the scheme for somehting like this resulting in money is thou, or if the LW related stuff I'm planing could be reworked for doing that as well as the possible awareness rising and mostly being for fun it's current planed purpose is. If it ever becomes anything other than vaporware that is.
