This discussion is a prime example of the failure of rationality among most lesswrong members.

According to seaworld.com "Penguins are among the most social of all birds. All species are colonial."

I don't think anyone was intending in this context to claim that penguins are asocial, and I'm confused why you would think so. The meme in question happens to use a penguin. I don't think that anyone using the "advice dog" meme thinks that dogs are likely to give advice for example.
