An entirely valid point, in the narrow definition of Mount Stupid. I used it more broadly to mean "I'm not only holding an opinion about a topic in which I'm not an expert, I'm also in a situation where I have to express that opinion in public." In this case, Mt. Stupid covers your approach (which is the reasonable approach I also use, and which is the closest we can get to rationality). The point of the above was to provoke other people's thoughts on the general approach of what to do when you must have a non-expert opinion.
