Sometimes, it feels like part of me would take over the world just to get people to pay attention to the danger of UFAI and the importance of Friendliness. Figuratively speaking. And part of me wants to just give up and get the most fun out of my life until death, accepting our inevitable destruction because I can't do anything about it.

So far, seems like the latter part is winning.

Both a little extreme. :) There are little things you can do. I've been donating to SIAI for a while, so that's a good start. Take on as much as you can bear responsibly.

What's worked for me is acting on some average of the different parts of my personality. I realize that I do care about myself more than random other people, and that the future is uncertain, and I let that factor into my decisions.
