Seriously, why is this post being downvoted? It's a legit question and the OP isn't making any huge mistakes or drawing any stupid conclusions. He's just stating some confusion and asking for links.
I actually feel pretty mad about this.
I think xkcd is appropriate here.
I still find myself tempted to make fun of people who are just today learning the lesson of that comic - e.g. those original down-voters.
