I would argue that humans are not very good at this. If by "good" you mean high succcess rate and low false positive rate for detecting consciousness. It seems to me that the only reason that we have a high success rate for detecting consciousness is because our false positive rate for detecting consciousness is also high (e.g. religion, ghosts, fear of the dark, etc.)
