I recall an episode of Star Trek TNG in which the crew, when entering a time anomaly, affixed a device to their arms in order to anchor them to their own time. I suppose that with a similar anchor to the time outside of the HTC a person whilst inside the chamber wouldn't age.
I don't think there's any particular reason to suppose either exists in the context of the other fictional setting though.
