As an extra data point, I didn't read this article nor the previous long one (didn't downvote them either!) because they were just too long; I typically only read long articles if they are heavily upvoted or written by somebody who usually writes good stuff, or are on a topic I'm very curious about.

Long posts are normally stories about something, or technical explations. In the trollin case, three meta threads, no agreement. "Meta" is a love word for this community, but could be more restricted to people who already are close to the SI, or work for them. Or extremely moderated.
