It might be a good idea to take this down before the entire community down votes it. It actually sounds like you could rephrase the question without the political spin. It seems like you're really inquiring about the degree to which people will blindly hold on to tradition. If that's what you're asking then you can easily divorce that idea from the conservative political faction.
Just a thought I had the other day; what do you think that the political ideas of conservatism have to do with cognitive bias? I mean, how much are people willing to change naturally, without arguing any points?
I know very little about all of these things, so forgive me if this is a silly thought.
