Maybe it's different for other people, but I have trouble imagining a person who could make millions ... and just avoids it because they see absolutely no benefit in doing so.

Me neither, but I wouldn't surprise me if someone could make millions but avoids it because they think the benefits in doing so don't outweigh the cost (time, effort, etc.).
