Did you fail to convince them that the problems are important, or that pursuing the solutions is a good idea?
There are plenty of problems with our government (I have the American government in particular in mind, although to greater or lesser extents this is probably true of others) that could be solved with a governmental reboot, but I don't think agitating for governmental reboot is a good time investment because I'm convinced the chances of success are too low to justify prioritizing the attempt over other things you could be doing instead.
This should be posted as a comment on the original post.
