These typically aren't used with a purely functional progamming style, are they?
On another note, if you're thinking of doing FAI research, it might be a good idea to also study relevant-seeming stuff that's not on this list in order to give yourself a different set of tools than other FAI thinkers.
Not only is threading used in purely functional languages, but one of the main points of pure functional languages is they make threading very easy.*
