Any action beyond an immediate <AI DESTROYED> will give the AI extra time to talk. This is why I keep nuking the ones that try to do this. Math is a nice proof of intelligence, but says nothing about friendliness.

I would probably hit the Print Screen button, then <AI DESTROYED>. It won't take appreciably longer than just destroying it, and assuming there's not enough space to capture the whole solution, whatever fits on the screen should at least be useful for mathematicians in figuring out a method to make headway on the problem.

True. But some people might be curious enough to listen to the proof before hitting the AI DESTROYED button.

Oh, I'm sure most methods here works on someone. I'm just explaining my own reasoning :)
