The workshop introduced me to the concepts of System 1 and System 2. System 1 is the faster, reactive, intuitive mind that uses heuristics and experience to react quickly. System 2 is the slower, analytical, logical, mathematical mind.

Sounds like Korzybski. Is there the related concept of a "semantic pause" before taking action, to give System 2 the chance to weigh in on your response?

By the way, anyone know how long Korzybski recommended for a semantic pause?
