After all, if you don't at least occasionally have a stupid question to ask, you're probably poorly calibrated on how many questions you should be asking.

Or you know, you might be using Google for asking the questions that would be considered stupid. (In fact for me the definition of a stupid question is a question that could be answered by googling for a few minutes)

Here's a possible norm:

If you'd like to ask an elementary-level question, first look up just one word — any word associated with the topic, using your favorite search engine, encyclopedia, or other reference. Then ask your question with some reference to the results you got.
