To find previous Open Threads, click on the "open_thread" link in the list of tags below the article. It will show you this page:

http://lesswrong.com/r/discussion/tag/open_thread/

For some reasons that I don't understand, the Special threads wiki page has a link to this:

http://lesswrong.com/tag/open_thread/

...but that page doesn't work well.

Douglas_Knight just fixed it. (It's a wiki; in the future, just fix it!)

I was also curious about why exactly the latter link does not work. By reading the URLs, I would expect the former to be "Open Threads withing the Discussion subreddit" and the latter "Open Threads, anywhere". If this understanding is correct, they should produce the same results. Which means either my model is wrong, or there is a bug in LW software.

No, the main subreddit is weird and a lot of things (eg, tags) that don't specify a subreddit are in main. The All subreddit ought to do both main and discussion, but its tags only cover main. Also, there are a lot of bugs in main and all.
