Which is similarly true of all the enhanced people who didn't cryopreserve.

Is he the same? That's up to you. One of the hallmarks of sanity is knowing that you're not a slave to the concepts you happen to have, and can craft your concepts to serve your values. Don't ask whether a label applies, ask yourself what you want to do in this situation.
