The End Is A.I.: The Singularity Is Sci-Fi's Faith-Based Initiative - positing that handwaving the bit where the AI is created isn't good enough. "To see AGI is unavoidable, you have to do as SF so often does, and imagine robots as monstrous or messianic geniuses waiting to happen, and humans as a bunch of dummies."
Is It Time To Give Up On The Singularity? - apart from skepticism over the idea of an intelligence explosion, positing that the word doesn't usefully do any work any more.
