downvoting feel pretty terrible
It may feel so, but that is not strictly an argument, isn't it? Why does is affect you so strongly? Isn't voting the valid expression of the voter? As there is a limit to it maybe the limit should be changed.

I mean, yeah. This isn't true of everyone. But for a large portion of people, getting downvoted feels bad. Maybe the "proper" view of karma should be "the karma I receive is merely an indicator of how valuable/accurate the comment is, and I should adjust my view of that comment accordingly." But just because something is irrational doesn't mean I can change it, or that the effects aren't real. And this is fairly common, from what I can see.
As for the "valid expression" thing: It gives too much power to a single individu...

So... thoughts? I have mod powers, but when I was granted them I was basically just told to use them to fight spam; there was never any discussion of any other policy, and I don't feel like I have the authority to decide on the suitable course of action without consulting the rest of the community.
