Well, for Charlie Stross it's practically professional interest :P
Anyhow: anecdote. Met an engineer on the train the other day. He asked me what I was reading on my computer, I said LW, he said he'd heard some vaguely positive things, I sent him a link to one of Yvain's posts, he liked it.
