If this is for proving useful work in crypto currencies, then awesome!

If primarly for AI boxing, then I assume this is useful for a massively parallel 'folding at home' style AI. In which case, is it possible (given sufficient technical knowledge) that any computer running a node could let the AI out of the box, or is each node a black box from the point of view of the person running the node?
