Whole Brain Emulation: A Roadmap provides a list of possible levels (see p13) and reports on an informal poll in which experts guessed that at least the ‘spiking neural network’ would be needed, and perhaps as much as the eletrophysiology (e.g. membrane states, ion concentrations) and metabolome (concentrations of metabolites and neurotransmitters)(p14). Why might experts believe these are the relevant levels?
