Online editing jobs:

Does anyone have any good resources for finding work online as an editor? I'm not sure what resources, organizaitons, or platforms are available. I figured with the self-movers at LW, someone would have gone hunting around and found some useful resources before.

EDIT: Because the question came up from Lumifer, here is my experience so far in editing, as outlined in a reply to their questions:

I have worked as an editor for a civil rights museum finding aid, a series of creative writing theses, a newspaper, and a biochem research project. All of my work has been well regarded when compared to the work of other editors.

"Well regarded," in this case, means: I was officially acknowledge by the curator of the museum to a public audience; highly recommended by the authors of the theses to others; paid well and respected enough to operate independently by my employer at the newspaper; and thanked gratefully by the biochem friend.

The biochem project is the weakest accomplishment (I had little input on improving the content itself). I was most comfortable with the creative writing theses (I have a background in the subject allowing familiarity). The museum finding aid was the one I found most rewarding. The newspaper was the one I sought the most assistance with (deferring questions to my supervisor, utilizing reference materials to improve my work.

Editor of what? Fiction, technical writing, college essays, ...?

Whatever pays.

The important question is what are you capable of doing competently.

Eh...

If you want to make money, then the question is "how well can you sell yourself?".
