Are they still accurate as to the end goal of the project?

Very generally speaking yes, but some of the more ambitious stuff (e.g. the elaborate social relationship mechanics) are likely to be left out from the version that I'm currently working on, since their direct educational value would be hard to justify to my supervisor. They might get in a later version, though.
