If there are a lot of human-level extraterrestrials and they don't advance beyond that point but get wiped out, that's nothing that you should ignore even if those human-level extraterrestrials are a bit different from yourself.

If you do have an argument that you are different from them in a way that prevents you from the same fate, then there existance doesn't matter. On the other hand I don't think that your unique knowledge about earth makes you different in that way.
