Edit: changed from "category error" which is in fact something completely different.

Hmmm. Yeah. Although I guess maybe the issue is that system 1 has misclassified, whereas system 2 is fine...

Sounds like a failure of the representativeness heuristic then, which isn't quite so nice a phrase as "pattern botching".
