Why don't ordinary photons spontaneously collapse into black holes?
How do you know that ordinary photons aren't black holes?
I think I see where you're going with this. If I can answer the question of how the universe would be different if photons did collapse, that might help explain why they don't.
That applies to anything, not just photons.
What would the world look like if, say, electrons were actually black holes with an electric charge? I do think black holes can be electrically charged, that is, charge is still conserved even if charged particles fall into a black hole. Same with angular momentum etc. We would expect black holes of electron mass to spontaneously decay v...
This thread is for asking any questions that might seem obvious, tangential, silly or what-have-you. Don't be shy, everyone has holes in their knowledge, though the fewer and the smaller we can make them, the better.
Please be respectful of other people's admitting ignorance and don't mock them for it, as they're doing a noble thing.
