Proper posture tends to be more comfortable; surely this is a benefit to myself.

I also apologize to people when I have wronged them, not because they are higher-status than me, but because I do not like being a jackass.

The apology is a noble thing, and so is its rationalist cousin the mind-change.

I'm not making any prescriptive recommendations -- I'm just elucidating one of the mechanisms of status evaluation.

As I read that I thought "Oh yes you are, [you're outlining a path to winning]"

And then I felt like I had caught by the tail the error of confusing describing something vs. promoting something.
