Other possibly useful reference: the Wikipedia saying "verifiability not truth." The idea being that Wikipedia is written by mere humans without direct access to cosmic truth, so what's verifiable is all we have to go on. (The details of Wikipedia's epistemology can get a bit stupid at the edges, but the point stands.)
