But while this is arguing over questions of fact, it's still politicised and unlikely to be productive or change anyone's mind, so tapping out is probably wise on my part.

Neither Fatah nor Hamas has much real popular support, at this point. I agree that Fatah has in fact been making credible efforts towards negotiating a peace deal, actually (and I say this as an Israeli).
