Another month, another rationality quotes thread. The rules are:

Provide sufficient information (URL, title, date, page number, etc.) to enable a reader to find the place where you read the quote, or its original source if available. Do not quote with only a name.

So, first of all, if you drew up a list of highly successful people in mediaeval Europe, I don't think there would be many Jews there.

Secondly, I take it you have in mind Cochran's theory that European Jews are super-smart because of evolutionary pressure from mediaeval persecution. But Cochran's story isn't simply "they were persecuted, persecution leads to more brains, the end". It depends crucially on the details of the persecution.
