A social meetup at the Houston hackerspace. We'll probably be playing munchkin, Settlers of Cataan, or some other type of game until about 5PM. The Houston hackerspace meetup will continue with a presentation on procrastination based on Lukeprog's related posts (A quick thanks to jsalvati for providing the foundations for it). This will be followed by a social game of Munchkin. The meeting should last roughly an hour and a half, although people will probably still be there after if anyone wishes to hang out. Pizza delivery is an option - if you would like some, bring a some cash to help split the cost.
To find our place, follow the google directions. Out front there will be a yellow surplus mobile army generator with a 'Less Wrong' sign. PM me for my cell number if you are considering coming.

After a short hiatus (I was out of town) the Houston meetup group will resume. Given the short notice, it will mainly be an informal social meeting. Two of our members have never seen our hackerspace before, and wanted a quick tour. If anyone else wishes to join us, come along. Our building will have a large surplus military generator out front with a sign saying "Less Wrong". PM for my cell number if you think you might want to come.

The Houston meetup group will be meeting at 3:00PM on Sunday, June 26th. Usually we try to meetup at the local hackerspace, but that may not be an option this weekend. Rather than let another week go by without a Less Wrong meetup, we will tentatively plan to use the usual area, with a backup at a local coffee house/restaraunt called Brasil.
We will be going over the second chapter of ET Jaynes' 'Logic of Science', as well playing a few rounds of paranoid debating. Other than that, it will be a fairly free flowing meetup. The location will be posted below, hopefully within 24 hours.

My apologies for the last minute meetup group notice. I am running an experiment this weekend, but I was uncertain until yesterday as to when I could use the equipment. I let the core group know yesterday. On the small chance that someone on these boards who has not shown up to the Houston meeting will see this and really want to come, there will be a LW meetup at the above address today at 4PM. We will be discussing the second chapter in ET Jaynes "The Logic of Science", play a few rounds of paranoid debating, and perhaps watch and discuss some videos on economics. A pizza can be ordered upon request.

It's near where the white truck and red motorcycle are. Currently, there is an old military vehicle and generator in front. We will have a Less Wrong sign posted on the generator.

The fourth meeting of the Houston Less Wrong meetup group will be happening on Sunday, the 12th of June. We will be addressing the first chapter in Jayne's "The Logic of Science", and play a round or two of paranoid debating. Last week we had 8 people in total, so hopefully we can replicate that type of success again. It was a good meet and greet, and set us up for future connections with other people around the Texas area. As the meetings go on, I suspect we will get more focused.
Pizza or prepared food are a possibility, if people show up hungry. We also have a full kitchen in the hackerspace.

The third meeting of the Houston Less Wrong group will be this coming Saturday at TX/RX Labs at 2:00PM. We had some success last time, with Orange Cat (I apologize if I got the formatting of your handle wrong) showing up during the meeting time, and another prospective member who showed up earlier in the day. Hopefully Saturday will be easier for some people.
We have decided to do a reading group on Jayne's "Probability Theory: The Logic of Science". We're still knocking around the reading schedule, so if you want to get involved, let me know. We will hopefully be doing other things as well, but I'll start scheduling those as we get more interest.

Another meeting at the TX/RX hackerspace will happen on Sunday, May 29th at 5PM. Since we had no attendance last week,it will again be a meet and greet and planning for future activities. Pizza can and will be ordered if people show up.
I understand many of the people who have expressed interest in a Houston meet up find this to be an inconvenient time. Unfortunately, my Saturday and early Sunday have been consumed by other plans this week. If this is a bad time for you, I plan to have a meetup the Saturday after next in the early afternoon. If that is usually more convenient for you, let me know, and I can decide how to structure future scheduling.
