I’d like to try talking about productivity.

I have seen some convincing arguments that this sort of deliberate bonding is dangerous. Shouting "Cult!" is not one of them.

Separately, the link you've provided doesn't support the claim that we are a cult. I think you're trying to draw support from UC Berkeley's list of 19 characteristics on that page and claiming we have the Guilt and Fear characteristic. I think we've also got Intense Study and arguably Striving for the Unreachable. Three out of nineteen doesn't seem worrying. The page also has several independent lists of cult characteristics which do not include group confession.

I’d be interested in hearing them.

I admit I’m a bit confused by the date format – I don’t know what the +0200 means, and I could’ve sworn I set it to 3pm or maybe 2pm (and I’m pretty sure when I looked at this post earlier today it said 03:00:00PM). Anyway, I’ll be there at 3pm local time. Gasteig.

I will be glad to come. Zendo is fun. Depending on the number of participants I can bring "Pandemia" game with me. Just on top of my head several different topics we could discuss: 1) tips and tricks of application of Bayesian decision theory in normal life, 2) systems of self-organization and self-improvement, 3) spotting logical fallacies in debates, 4) what to read waiting for the next chapter of HPMOR, 5) building a sustainable LW meetup group in Munich ;-) If you are interested, we could further discuss the details in the LW Munich Group.

Thanks for commenting and welcome! Do you own a copy of Zendo? I don’t, so we’d have to improvise with Legos or something.

The next Munich meetup will take place on April 1st (as decided in the doodle). If the weather is sunny, we will meet outside, somewhere in Englischer Garten, in case of bad weather, the location is the café at Gasteig (right behind the escalator going up to the Stadtbücherei). Edit: Yeah, that’s indoors weather. We’ll meet at Gasteig. We don’t have any specific activities planned, but I think it would be fun to try Zendo. You should come and say hi, no matter how long you’ve been reading LessWrong. If you plan to attend, please (optionally) post a comment saying what topics you’d like to discuss.

GTD and the Pomodoro technique have different aims, I think, and are not mutually exclusive – you could use GTD for keeping track of what to do when, and Pomodoros for actually doing (some) tasks.

Many people also write down the task they want to do next, and put a checkmark next to it after they successfully finished the task. This might be important because it helps to build a chain of successes: http://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret

I think it’d be cool to do this again in a few months. February or April, perhaps.

Added my vote for October 27/28.

Although, if I'm the only non-native German speaker then I'll bow out. I can speak German, but not to the standard required for these kinds of conversations. And I'm uncomfortable with others speaking English only on my account.

Please don’t be! I, personally, am glad for an opportunity to speak English, and this is an English-speaking site after all.

Sigh. We could make another one on the 20th/21th or one week later.

I vote for doing the meetup on the 20th/21th instead. It looks like there’s only three of us who could make it this Saturday, compared to maybe 4-6 at some other time. (Edit: Also, I just learned I have another obligation on the 6th, so this Saturday doesn’t work well for me.) I could make a doodle, if that helps.

Oh, and also: The address of the café is not Bahnhofsplatz 2 – there are two Coffee Fellows, one inside the central station (which I think you are referring to), and one outside (at Bahnhofsplatz 2).

I will attend if there are at least two other people, and I’ll bring my slackline, just in case.
