Ethnic Bioweapons: Are they really possible?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_bioweapon

I'm looking for someone with some expertise to answer this question. Can ethnic bioweapons be created in a general sense? How specific can a given population be targeted? Populations share many genes but often have them in different proportions so theoretically you may get something that kills 90% of group A and 10% of group B? Is it possible to avoid this? What are the risks of mutation? Can they be controlled etc...

Could you provide a link?

You're saying that effectiveness of the rhetoric causes a biased negative view of reality. You haven't provided much evidence that the world is not getting worse, in specific ways relevant to the specific pessimism in question. I've seen Moldbug post of graph of assaults/stabbings etc... in England from 1900 to 2000. It went up by a factor of 30. You also have to consider that modern tech allows for the consequences of violence to be ameliorated. Technological progress masks moral decline. It's genuinely hard to compare today to the past because we don't live there and we have to rely on others accounts of it. Britain used to be a thriving superpower, now its filled with idiots, immigrants, and people on the dole. It's really sad. Life is going quite well for perhaps the top 10? 15%? of people who live in a bubble and isolate themselves from the consequences of their political beliefs which they put on to look good in the eyes of others. The public perception of history is often made by power structures like universities to have a self serving narrative about how the past was evil. I think it is strange that you are even focusing on this when Eliezer's project relies so much on the fear of a computer dooming humanity.

James Altucher, the serial entrepreneur and chess champ, has a great podcast. Recently he interviewed Geoffrey Miller, the evolutionary psychologist who wrote the Mating Mind. The other episodes feature guests that dispense advice relating to business, life, entrepreneurship etc... Itunes link :https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-james-altucher-show/id794030859?mt=2

Roderick on the Line is an entertaining podcast, mainly because John Roderick is a quirky storyteller with a lot of stories to tell. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/roderick-on-the-line/id471418144?mt=2

I've recently been looking into nootropics and other brain supplements. I've come up with this "stack".

1 = one pill at standard dosage

2 fish oil caps / 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil 1 Uridine 1 Phosphatidylserine 1 B-complex 1 Alpha-GPC : choline source (optional) 1 Acetyl L-Carnitine : choline source and antioxidant 1 Alpha Lipoic Acid : antioxidant

NGF + BDNF increasers: 1 lion's mane 1 ashwaganda 1 bacopa 1 curcumin 95% (tumeric) 5% piperine (black pepper)

Wow.. that literacy test is something else. I would have thought they would have been slightly more circumspect about the fact that this was just a way of disenfranchising black voters. But no, instead they come up with a test that is obviously just designed to be a giant "Fuck you, nigger". It's not just that the test is unreasonably hard, it's that the questions -- plus the absurdly strict grading criteria -- look like there were specifically chosen to signal unreasonable hardness (if that makes sense).

St. Rev on twitter believes that the test is likely a hoax due to the way to was formatted vs. other tests at the time. There was still likely some test that was aimed at disenfranchisement but given the lack of evidence that it was real I'd say he might be right about this particularly unbelievable one one being a fake.

For the girls you're probably interested in, i.e. intellectual curious, nerdy, nice girls, you don't need to be super fit, just not overweight. Most of the attraction comes from conversation, in which you engage in a mutual storytelling process. Have an interesting hobby, show off your humor and creativity. That's what worked for me.

I don't talk about Asian adult film stars in places where it is inappropriate

What do you do when it is appropriate? Example: group is playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, and someone says "Why don't we try something crazy, like an Asian porn star? Do you pretend to be ignorant of the names of Asian porn stars because having that information is low-status, or do you volunteer the names that you know?

Territory and map in the depression discussion: The symptoms are what can be seen in living individuals, because the chemistry cannot be nondestructively measured. It's worth noting that by a strict interpretation of the DSM, only the diagnostic symptoms of depression qualify as immediate causes; suicide attempts cause depression, not the other way around.

"suicide attempts cause depression, not the other way around." This can't be right. Speaking for myself, it's definitely wrong.

As a 911 Operator, I have spoken to hundreds of suicidal people at their very lowest moment (often with a weapon in hand). In my professional judgment, the quote is accurate for a large number of cases (obviously, there are exceptions).

There are many people who want to die. There are few who are willing to commit suicide to do it.
