How has lesswrong changed your life?
I've been wondering what effect joining lesswrong and reading the sequences has on people.
How has lesswrong changed your life?
What have you done differently?
What have you done?
[Link] More Right launched
Various people (including Konkvistador who has been talking about it the most) have launched their blog More Right
"A group blog, More Right is a place to discuss the many things that are touched by politics that we prefer wouldn’t be, as well as right wing ideas in general. It grew out of the correspondences among like minded people in late 2012, who first began their journey studying the findings of modern cognitive science on the failings of human reasoning and ended it reading serious 19th century gentlemen denouncing democracy. Surveying modernity, we found cracks in its façade. Findings and seemingly correct ideas, carefully bolted down and hidden, met with disapproving stares and inarticulate denunciation when unearthed. This only whetted our appetites. Proceeding from the surface to the foundations, we found them lacking. This is reflected in the spirit of the site."

Nobel laureate challenges psychologists to clean up their act
Nobel prize-winner Daniel Kahneman has issued a strongly worded call to one group of psychologists to restore the credibility of their field by creating a replication ring to check each others’ results.
Kahneman, a psychologist at Princeton University in New Jersey, addressed his open e-mail to researchers who work on social priming, the study of how subtle cues can unconsciously influence our thoughts or behaviour. For example, volunteers might walk more slowly down a corridor after seeing words related to old age1, or fare better in general-knowledge tests after writing down the attributes of a typical professor2.
Let's all learn stats!
Udacity are running an Introduction to Statistics course starting on the 25th June 2012.
Many of us could stand to learn some more stats, I certainly could. This seems like a great opportunity!
It is mandatory for all LWers to enroll in this course.
Update: the last line was a joke. Obviously people are not finding it funny. Sorry.

http://www.etla.org/hpmor_notes.html
This is an ongoing project of mine, although I haven't worked on it in a while. I've been trying to extract the references to Rationality - the Methods of Rationality from HPMoR. It also ended up having a few quotes that seemed interesting about how the story's going. I've linked references where I could find them.
I've only got as far as Chapter 40. Any extra submissions welcome.
At least one person - User:DavidGerard suggested it deserved being posted as a discussion link.

Autistic woman banned from having sex in latest Court of Protection case
This reminded me of previous LW comments about how we restrict the rights of children for their own good.
On the one hand, children can't understand the risks so we stop them having sex.
But on the other hand, animals can't understand the risks and we happily let them continue having sex.
