To be clear I am not promoting religon here, but have any of you who are bashing Christianity ever actually talked to a real theologian? Or are all of your views of Christianity based on TV preachers and the common mob who don't know anything when it comes to defending what they believe? Just as with any other area there is a barrier to admission like in physics you have to know the math otherwise you have really nothing to contribute. If you want to contribute to Christianity you have to understand the belief system and its reasoning and the average person probably doesn't. The same goes for physics how many average people do think can actually solve the field equations? In Christianity how many of the people who claim to believe have gone to Seminary? Unless you are arguing with scholars of Christianity this bashing seems to me to be like finding some person who claims to be a physicist but can't do basic algebra and then discounting physics because of that persons opinion.

If find this amusing since on this fantatastic individual's website he claims that he has no credentials to speak of, which isn't so different from Eliezer. In fact Eliezer has never published a technical paper in a peer-reviewed journal. Eliezer is a gradeschool drop out. How is it that he thinks he has room to claim someone else is a crackpot. Try a little honesty Eliezer you really are no better then anyother crackpot in fact your worse since you won't admit it.

A final thought
I would like to thank all of those people who voted my last post down into the negative numbers allowing me to exploit a flaw in this sites design. I was really getting bored of trying to figure a way to get a karma score of 20. So I toast all those who helped me achieve it in record time.
Now on to the meat of the issue, I thought when I ran into this group that it would be what it claimed a site devoted to refining rationality, I could not have been more wrong. This site is not concerned with rationality or improving it but rather self adulation. You people are not concerned with being rational just imagining you are rational and then congratulating yourselves on your own self deception. I will be totally honest here this little group therapy session you guys have going on is intellectually repugnant. You all should be ashamed of yourselves that you have nothing better to do then congratulate yourselves on non-accomplishments.
If any of you were truly intelligent you would feel no need to engage in this behavior and your leader would not be a man who dropped out of grade school. So enjoy your idol of rationality and self-proclaimed genius if any of you decide that rationality is of interest I suggest you try learning some math a feat that is beyond the abilities of your leader. Lest of any of you doubt it he has never published a technical paper. All but one of his papers is self published (so as to avoid critique) and the only math that he demonstrates knowledge of is freshman statistics.

I don't think I can answer this, since I think I was a rationalist by nature - at least back to the age of 5 or 6, when I was upset by logical fallacies in the Bible. My life has been more one of discovering things that being a rationalist made me bad at, and things that being a rationalist given bad information made me bad at, and trying to fix them.
I'm bad at translating thought into action, because I want to gather more data and do more analysis. I'm bad at status games, because I internalized egalitarian values to the extent that I find it painful to assert dominance over anyone. I'm bad at self-promotion and displaying value, because I was taught that doing so was prideful. Etc. A familiar story, I think.
I am not sure your 5 or 6 year-old logical fallacy discoveries in the Bible are much of a proof of being rational. I would imagine your actions that you have taken or are taking to achieve some difficult goal would be better proof of your rationality.
