For our regular ACX Montreal meetup on March 15th, we're discussing the Analogy as the Core of Cognition, by Douglas Hofstadter. Supplemental (optional) essay with some complimentary stuff e.g. on translation: Analogy as the Core of Cognition (~13k words).
Feel free to suggest topics or readings for future meetups on this form here. Thanks to Jeremy for this week's suggestion!
Venue: Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, 20 Prince Arthur St W. Date & Time: Saturday, March 15th, 2025, 1PM.
RSVP by clicking "Going" at the top of this post.
HPMOR Anniversary Party
On March 14th, 2015, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality made its final post. Wrap parties were held all across the world to read the ending and talk about the story, in some cases sparking groups that would continue to meet for years. It’s been 10 years, and many groups around the world are meeting once more. ACX Montréal is one such.
Venue: Massimo's place (DM @massimog on Discord for details) Date & Time: Saturday, March 15th, 2025, 6PM.
We'll relocate there once the Olde Orchard meetup runs its course.
Please also join the mailing list and our Discord server if you haven't already. We host biweekly ACX Montreal meetups, so join us if you don't want to miss any of them!
