In short: this, too, shall pass -- the only question is how long we'll have to suffer until the transition is complete.

Or, it may not pass, and the American educational system may continue to gather detritus until it collapses. Anybody familiar enough with the Chinese Ming dynasty to rationally assess the similarities? I'm not.

Not to be pedantic, but that would be passing. I made no pretense about shortness in the time this will take to pass.
