Upvoted for going into the jungle, even if armed only with a machete. We can sometimes benefit from the quixoticism of others.

I lament how this applies to coupling, and casual dating, and casual sex. Many people assume that these areas are a black box, and attempts to open that box are met with the sort of antipathy Taleb describes. I applaud Luke's efforts to pry the box open, or at least locate its joining screws.

What if the standard for success in these areas was: Know Yourself, Be Honest, Be Specific, Be Present (Not Policy-Bound), and Make Illuminating Mistakes?
