FWIW I linked to this though my Twitter feed and got a very negative reaction from my friends, though the reasons they give for disliking it are pretty varied; they said things like
One person has promised to write up what they felt in a blog post, which I look forward to reading.
Has this blog post eventuated?
They wrote a private version which I discussed with them; they're working on a second version for public sharing now. I found their argument about the ways in which it's inaccurate and bad PR fairly convincing; I now think I made an error propagating this post.
