Raise the karma threshold for various actions.
Split up the various SEQ RERUN, META, MEETUP into "sub-LWs" so that those who are not interested do not need to see it.
Likewise, split up topics: applied rationality, FAI, and perhaps a few others. There can still be an overview page for those who want to see everything.
Perhaps this is offtopic, but add an email-notification mechanism for the inbox. This would reduce the need to keep coming back to look for responses, and so reduce the annoyance level.

I agree strongly with # 2,3 and 4

Particularly 2, since the absence of category divisions makes all discussion harder to browse....at least for me
