Can you get the cryo procedure itself at a lower rate by signing up now? Or is it just a matter of insurance premiums? (if the latter, it might be better to cut out the middleman and do the low-risk-investing directly?) .

I wouldn't know about rates, I'm more basing it on the uncertainty of when your death will be. Someone else under this comment tree mentioned life insurance in relation to the cryonics payment, but I really haven't looked into it myself. Honestly, I'm just stating the logic as I see it. My own stance is that I don't value my perpetual existence very highly. I'm not suicidal, and I see myself as likely to live a long time with some form of life extension, but I'm not too choosy about when I'm going to die.

Oh, ok. I thought we were ignoring the risk of dying now for the purposes of discussion, since you were talking about how you should base your actions off your estimate of tech. capability at the estimated time of death rather than current tech.
