And I keep asking that myself. My father took me to see Stanley Kubrick's famous film at a theater in Tulsa back in 1968 (quite an adventure for a geeky 8 year old Okie boy!), and I can remember thinking that the year 2001 seemed like a wondrous, far-off future time.
